I washed, swept the floors and canned & dried apples. Edith & Roy come in from Cincinnati. Ruth's trailer was put in,.
Footnote: Edith is her sister and Roy is Edith's husband. They were visiting their daughter, Pat and their granddaughters, Leah and Rachel who live in Cincinnati. Ruth is her sister-in-law and she lives just across the highway. She was married to Everette and they lived in the house that Everette and his sisters and brothers grew up in. It was a nice big two-story house with a great portico (sp.)/ front porch. I remember the oversized wicker chair that set in the left corner and it was great to sit in that chair and lean it back on the two back legs. You could see the highway from the chair and Mamie would sit there watching the cars go by. Mother says that Pappy would sit there and wave at the people he knew when they were driving by. If they stopped, he would invite them to come on up and eat with them. Not sure how much of that is true as we all know that Mother wasn't fond of Pappy. She thinks he didn't like her because she was a girl and he wanted a boy who could help on the farm.
