September 25, 1980 Aunt Estelle wrote

Thurs. Rain off & on all day.   I cleaned my wardrobe and papered.  It was a mess.  Jennings ate lunch with us.  I visited Mrs. Graham a while.

Footnote:  Jennings is her brother who lives nearby.  Mrs. Graham is her neighbor and friend.

Here is a recipe from her notebook: Thought it would be good this time of year.
Apple Dumplings:
1 large can Biscuits
4 cups finely chopped (not to much) apples
Roll biscuits until thin.  roll about 3 times (about as big as your hand)
Place apples inside. Fold and place in a glass baking dish.
Filling:
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 stick margarine
Heat until sugar is dissolved.  Pour over dumplings.  Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Doesn't that sound good and easy?   Maybe I will make this for the potluck lunch I have to go to Saturday.   If you make this, let me know.
