January 21, 1965 Aunt Estelle wrote
Thurs. Fair.
I washed. The weather is nice. They took Aunt Rose to the hospital this morn. I walked up to Ward's late to call about her.
Footnote: Aunt Rose Baker Slemp is her Mother's half-sister. The Ward family lives just up the back road from her house. Surely she had a telephone then. Maybe the Wards had a Pennington Telephone which would have meant it wouldn't cost to call the hospital. I am just guessing here. Phones were so different in 1965. Amazing how far we have come in 50 years. I can't imagine there will be major developments in the next 50 years as there has been in the last 50, but I bet there will be.
