cold as ice. Elizabeth was sick this morn and we got her to the hospital. Sure upsets me. I went to the Myrtle Davis funeral. Edith came after work and went to the hospital a while with Jennings. Mrs. Scalf had surgery for cancer at Kingsport today.
Footnote by Pat: Elizabeth is her sister-in-law, Jennings' (her brother) wife. Myrtle Davis was a neighbor. Edith is her sister who lived in Big Stone Gap, Va. (Edith is my mother and is 92 years old and still living in her house in Kingsport, Tenn.). Mrs. Scalf is her son's (Redge) mother-in-law.
