Wed.  Cloudy.

I done housework.  Millard came home at lunch time.  I went out to Lizzie Sturgills awhile.  To church tonight.

My note;   I'm trying to catch up on the posting.   I've been all over since I last posted.  I drove to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and was in a show in the park Oct. 15 and 16.  Good show, sold dolls and cards.   After the show, on Monday I drove to Gees Bend, Alabama (near Selma) and spent the day with the old black quilters.  It was a great day for me.  I got to visit with them in their homes (not much more than clean shacks).  They are all descendants of a cotton farmer/slave owner whose name was   Pettway.  Gees Bend is a small community located in the bend of the Alabama river.  There is a narrow road leading in and the other way out is by car ferry that crosses the river  to Camden.  In the 60's, someone decided they didn't want the people to be able to vote, so they discontinued the ferry.  They had no cars so they didn't get to vote until the late 90s  when a wealthy land owner in Camden bought property across the river and he started the ferry again.    On Tuesday, I drove to Kingsport and surprised Mother.  I stayed all week and got back to Cincinnati on Monday - 1660 miles later.   I have two shows left for the year (both here in town) so I'm busy now finishing orders from the last show and getting ready for the next show on Nov. 19.   I'll post as I can find time.  Hope all are well.
